The former Boroughmuir High School development by Cala comprises of 87 luxury 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments. An open plan, living space layout that is sympathetic to the architecture of the building was at the heart of the brief.
To provide an open plan living space that was complimentary to the architecture, a handleless Contino concrete furniture system from Leicht was incorporated. The use of tall units was minimised in order to create an open and airy atmosphere, without crowding. Floating and open plan shelving was used to maximise storage whilst blending the kitchen and living spaces together. Timber features on the backsplashes and open base units provide warmth and texture whilst the peninsula and island spaces maximise worktop space.
Practicality and ease of use are at the heart of the design, for this reason backflip power sockets for
careful consideration was given to the practicality and use of the space, pan drawers are located below the hob for convenience when cooking. Backflip sockets located on the worktops provide power for electrical appliances as well as charging mobile phones, tablets and other electrical devices.
