Cooking demo at Dundas St Studio to be given by Martin Wishart Cookschool

Select customers and potential customers can attend a special cookery demonstration evening given by the Martin Wishart Cookschool at our flagship Dundas Street studio in Edinburgh on 9 May 2012. Cooking such mouth-watering dishes such as Jerusalem Artichoke Soup with Chestnut Puree and Red Leg Partridge with a Rosemary Jus served with Braised Savoy Cabbage and Fondant Potato, the clients will come away inspired not just by the dishes but by how to get the most out of a KI kitchen and its appliances. The evening is to be hosted by a team from the famous Martin Wishart cookschool in Edinburgh and aimed at clients who share an interest in fine dining and beautiful kitchens. Cooking on our new hand painted Mowlem & Co kitchen, this is another of many co-hosted events between the MW cookschool and Kitchens International. There will also be a special KI client evening at the Martin Wishart Cookschool on 16 May.  Clients interested in attending should contact the showroom at: info@kitchensinternational.co.uk or tel: 0131 523 0477.

Let the Light One In – Homes & Interiors Scotland July/Aug 2011

Swapping Hong Kong for Edinburgh is a brave move if you need lots of sunshine.  But clever changes to their new home means there is now little chance of this family going over to the dark side.

Walls were knocked down, the kitchen was moved from its original position to a new spot overlooking the back garden, and a scullery was created in the space that was left.  A double-height atrium adjoins the minimalist state-of-the-art kitchen, extending the hallway into an open, light-filled space.

Viv’s area of expertise is cooking, which she does from her sleek, handless Alpine-white Mowlem & Co walnut veneer kitchen from Kitchens International.  The breakfast bar, with its sculpted Corian work-top and sink, is a meting point for family and friends – and a desk for the kids to do their homework.  The black Aga adds a traditional twist to the clean lines.

Open up Your Kitchen – Edinburgh Home Guide – July 2011

Callerton Kitchen by Kitchens International

The kitchen has long been considered the heart of the home, yet its role has been reinvented in recent years.  Now it is so much more than simply a room to cook in – it has become an extension of our living space.  An open-plan, multi-purpose space is one of the hottest trends in kitchen design, a room that blurs the boundaries between cooking, eating and entertaining, making it more of a hub than ever.

Turn Around – EKBB February 2011

Re-orientating the ground floor was a huge task, but one that resulted in a stunning new home.

“The new open-plan kitchen adjoins the atrium living room, creating an invitingly spacious area for the family to share.”

After 20 years of living in Hong Kong, Viv and Mark  Harris were excited about returning home to Edinburgh.  Except for one thing.  “We’d been spoilt by living in an apartment in Hong Kong with lots of natural light” says Viv.  “I was nervous that we would find our new house in Scotland dark and rather gloomy compared with what we were used to
