Poggenpohl and us provided the highly successful celebrity chef feature kitchen at the recent Ideal Home Show in Glasgow. With over 46,000 visitors to this first Show it was well attended and received. Here chef Aldo Zilli prepares for a cookery demonstration.
We had a Taste of Arran recently when we provided the demonstration kitchen at a promotional event, celebrating all the things from Arran in George Square in Glasgow. Food and drink was at the heart of the event and the cookery theatre was one of the most successful elements. Co-ordinated by Braehead Food and The Cookschool Scotland, the kitchen was manned by their own chef Phil Lewis, along with The Sister’s Jaqueline O’Donnell during the two days of the show. Rogano’s Andy Cumming also came along and cooked a wonderful lobster thermidor. The purpose of the event, which attracted between 5-7,000 people was to promote Arran as a destination and also its wonderful natural larder.
Taste of Arran’s Maureen McKenna said: “The KI team who delivered and installed the kitchen were exceptionally professional and a real credit to the company.”

Expansion creates jobs
Kitchens International has created four jobs by opening a new showroom.
The business has made its first foray into Glasgow with a 2,000 square feet space on Great Western Road.
Paul O’Brien, business development director, said: “Expanding to Glasgow is the right move for us as we have been servicing this market from our Edinburgh and Broxburn showrooms.
“However, we have seen an expansion in demand from customers in the west of Scotland and wanted to have a showroom that recognised what our Glasgow customers wanted.”
The business, which has a turnover of s9 million, is considering opening a further showroom before the end of 2011.
It sells a number of upmarket kitchen brands including Stoneham, Callerton, Mowlem and Co, Poggenpohl, Leicht and RW Kuhlman.

New showroom for Kitchens International
Scottish retailer Kitchens International has expended into the west of Scotland with a new showroom in Glasgow.
Local celebrity chef Nick Nairn opened the showroom in the heart of the city’s interiors district. From this base, Kitchens International will sell Leicht and Stoneham kitchens for the first time.
Paul O’Brien, business development director of Kitchens International said: “Glasgow is a key market for us and until now we have serviced it from Edinburgh. However, there is an increasing demand for high quality design, coupled with contemporary, aspirational kitchens in the west of Scotland. Kitchens International has a broad product portfolio that will meet this demand.
“We recognise that this expansion is a brave move in these challenging times but since we opened our doors we have had many requests for designs and acknowledge that many people are refurbishing their kitchens rather than moving house. Award winning kitchen designers and retailers Kitchens International is celebrating the opening of its first Glasgow showroom with an event hosted by renowned Scottish chef Nick Nairn. Nairn and his team will demonstrate new dishes as well as offering interactive cooking sessions, tips and techniques. And in the showroom, expect to find sleek German Leicht kitchens and British-built Stoneham kitchens, as well as hi-tech appliances from Swiss V-Zug, Gagganeau, Siemens and Sub Zero.
